Small as an Elephant

This book was a delight to read. It is about Jack, who woke one day while camping to find that his mother had left him. He is two states away from his home. He manages through cleverness to survive alone, and finds ways to get food and shelter. He loves elephants and everything about them. His memories about them keep him going and the little facts that are incorporated are easy to adapt to humans. Along his journey he steals a plastic elephant and carries this with him to give him comfort. He is almost captured several times. He meets people who help him on his journey. All the while his Grandmother is desperately looking for him. This is a feel good book and I highly recommend it.
