Excalibur: The Legend of King Arthur

I have heard the story of King Arthur many times, through TV, movies, musicals, plays and books, yet reading this graphic novel didn’t disappoint. I learned many new things. Of course every teller has his or her own idea of how the story goes, but this version was told in such a way that the story seems new and fresh. A classic telling of the King Arthur legend with beautiful easy-to-follow pictures and story.

Uther Pendragon was King of Albion. In secret his enemy Gorlois, the Duke of Cornwall, married Uther’s love Igraine and they had a little girl Morgana. Uther still loved Igraine though, and his love drove him to seek help to get her back. First he asked the wizard Merlin, who refused and was banished from court. Uther then went to the Unseelie Court of Faerie to get what he required. Gorlois was killed in battle and with the war over, Uther and Igraine married and she gave birth to Arthur.
