Alive in the Killing Fields

The True Story of Nawuth Keat, a Khmer Rouge Genocide Survivor

Written by Nawuth Keat with Martha E. Kendall

This is a very powerful nonfiction book. Nawuth Keat grew up in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge. It tells about his struggles, trials, tragedies and loses. I was impressed by his survival skills and the importance that he placed on his family. It is a great book to recommend to students that need to read a nonfiction book. The book is only 127 pgs. long which could be a problem for a student who is required to read a longer book for an assignment.
