By Jacob W. and Wilhelm Grimm; by Retold by Martin Powell; Illustrated by Pedro Rodríquez
This Grimm Brothers tale has been adapted to graphic novel format. The familiar story is well told and the illustrations are eye-catching. Students that may not typically pick up a fairy tale will be drawn to this– the elves have a gremlin look to them.
This book is one of a series of Grimm tales by Stone Arch books. At the beginning, the characters are introduced. At the end you’ll find discussion questions, writing prompts, and a glossary.

This book and the whole series of graphic novel re-dos of fairy tales and tall tales look extremely visually appealing for kids. I find I want to read them. They may provide a fun counterpoint to the “Disney” version of these stories that kids (and probably all of us) are so used to.

This look like a fun one. I love fairy tales. The children in my library know it.
I love getting the fairy tales in the graphic novels, then the older students will check them out. Rainbow books as a really fun series with great graphics.
