The cast of characters in Raven Boys is amazing. I am so excited that it is a series, and I hope Ms. Stiefvater writes quickly. This is a very complicated book with clairvoyants (good ones), rich boys from the local Prep school looking for the laylines that will open up the supernatural to them, a ghost, and Blue, the girl who makes everything around her “louder”. She amplifies the supernatural around her. Her family are a wonderfully eclectic group and the boys from the Prep school are believable characters. Blue is told from a young age that if she kisses her true love then he will die. So the attraction she has for Adam is dangerous. There are so many story lines it is a little hard to keep up, and I must confess I actually listened to this one on Overdrive and the reader was excellent with the different voices. I loved this book and it has haunted me for days – in a good way! It might be a little sophisticated for younger kids, although there is nothing offensive in it.
