When 13 year old Jalen accidentally unlocks the thirteenth sign of the zodiac (Ophiuchus the Healer), the whole world changes. Everyone’s personality is different (including her own), world events are in an upheaval, and the original twelve signs are angry. With only 24 hours, Jalen and her two best friends must battle the twelve signs through the streets of New Orleans, desperately trying to bring the balance back. There is plenty of fast-paced action, strange and questionable characters, and teen angst to move this original fantasy novel along. I liked this book, but think it might confuse some young readers. It moves very fast between the 12 zodiac signs. But, the main characters are very likable and I thought New Orleans was the perfect setting for this story.
