Fyre (Septimus Heap, Book 7)

fyreWritten by Angie Sage

I have just finished the seventh and final volume of Angie Sage’s Magikal series, Fyre. After centuries of waiting, the alchemist Marcellus Pye has been given permission to relight the Alchemist Fyre that will destroy the two dark wizards imprisoned in the two-faced ring. Unfortunately, the dark wizards have a plan of their own that nearly succeeds in destroying princess Jenna and the entire kingdom. Septimus Heap, Extraordinary Wizard’s Apprentice, and the others combine to defeat this great impending evil. Like so many of the other novels in this series, the characters are well-rounded and likable. The stories lines are interesting and well developed. I have enjoyed each one. If I have any criticism it is only that 700 pages seems a bit long for an elementary school level reader. It is interesting to me that, although I never get so engrossed in these stories that I finish them in 2 days wondering where the time went, I must always finish. At the end of it all, I highly recommend the whole series.
