Written by Julie Fogliano, Illustrated by Erin E. Stead
This book is written by the author of And Then It’s Spring and the illustrator of A Sick Day for Amos McGee. Because of the success of these books, I was hoping for more of the same. It is the story of a little boy waiting to see a whale, with tender illustrations, but I felt there was not enough to hold a child’s attention. I did not get the opportunity to read this to a child, but felt I would need to add to the storyline as I read it to help a child stay interested in the text. I feel this would be a better gift book, not so much a book for an elementary library.
