Written by Rob Lloyd Jones
Wild Boy is covered from head to toe in hair. He is mostly kept in privacy in the orphanage because of his strange appearance, until one day a showman comes to take him away, not to comfort, but to a life of drudgery in a “peep” show which features various types of freaks. The date at the beginning is 1838, the scene is London. Wild Boy is intelligent and quick, but abused and desires nothing more than to escape. But where will he go and what will he do? When a murder takes place at the circus, Wild Boy is accused and then discovers that he has abilities as a detective. There is a machine that might make him normal, there is a friend, Clarissa. He must choose one or the other. The reader is carried along and sympathizes with Wild Boy in his quest for normalcy and freedom.
