In this sequel to The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, heroine September is back and her shadow, which is known as Halloween, has been taken over by the magical Hallow Queen, monarch of the dark world where Fairyland’s inhabitants’ stolen shadows reside. As the shadows of Fairyland are taken, Fairyland becomes a darker more foreboding place than depicted in the first book. One would definitely want to read the first book in the series before reading this one because it is important to already be acquainted with the cast of characters. At the beginning of each chapter are beautiful illustrations done by Ana Juan which add to the flavor of the story.
