Written by Joseph Delaney
I have been totally hooked on The Last Apprentice series by Delaney and was sad it was finished at number 13 (how fitting!). Imagine my joy when I saw Delaney was creating a new series and Thomas is the star, again. This time around he is the Spook, since his mentor has died fighting. And the big surprise is that he reluctantly takes on a new apprentice, although he does not feel trained enough to do that. The new apprentice is a girl, something that has never happened before in the history of Spooks, but she claims to be the 7th daughter of a 7th daughter and does seem to have very good instincts. She is also very empathic, which comes in handy helping the county people out with their boggarts and witches and the new terror that is coming soon. The ending almost made me cry, but the final page gave me hope. Sorry for the spoiler, but if you are like me and love our young Tom, it is a scary ending indeed.
