Written by Mac Barnett and Jory John, Illustrated by Kevin Cornell
Why did he have to move and leave his school, where Miles Murphy was king of the pranksters? And then come to Yawnee Valley, with its rolling hills and cows are far as the eye can see? Sigh…. After a sleepless night, Miles, upon approaching his new school, sees typical school stuff except that somebody’s car is parked at the top of the stairs and blocking the school’s entrance. Wait! That’s not right. Miles soon learns he will have competition for top school prankster. But who can it be? Find out when you read “The Terrible Two.” With a cast of quirky, comical characters and lots of cows, “The Terrible Two” is full of fun, hijinks, and mischief. The writing is hilarious, exactly what you would expect from Mac Barnett and Jory John. The zany black and white illustrations by Kevin Cornell add to the laughter along with excerpts from the student booklet, “1,346 Interesting Things You May or May Not Know about Cows.” This is just a perfectly funny school story that I highly recommend. I wonder if there are any pranksters like this in our schools. Watch out! Book 2 will be coming. I can’t wait. Oh, and listen, “somewhere in the distance a cow is mooing!”
