Up before dawn, a gentle mother elephant and her son Raju share an adventure together travelling through India. They encounter slithering snakes, snapping crocodiles, and a prowling tiger. Mother gives warnings to those animals as well as wise reminders to Raju to keep him safe. All the while, Raju asks the question, “When can we go home again?” And mother kindly says, “Soon.” They travel a long time and come upon a mountain, where climbing to the top, they see the beautiful world in which they live. Raju thinks it is very beautiful but says, “When can we go home again?” “Now” she says. A weary walk, tired feet and never being up so late in his life, did Raju enjoy his adventure? “When can we do it all again?” he asks and mother says, “Soon.” This is a wonderful bedtime storybook to be read to young children. The beautiful soft illustrations lend themselves to quiet time and the sweet message of love between mother and son is so comforting. Reading this book is like wrapping your heart in a soft and warm blanket.
