I have a daughter who really likes the older rock & roll bands/singers. I thought this might be a fun read for her. We both liked reading about parts of Elvis’ life that maybe not everyone knows…..like he was a twin, but he was the only one that lived. The illustrations were a little hard to decipher sometimes, and none of them really look like the Elvis that is so often portrayed everywhere.
I felt like the story could have told how old Elvis was when things happened, instead of just giving the year. I liked the timeline in the back, where it was easier to read all the important events in his life. I wish the story had more detail about what happened after he became famous, instead of ending at when his career had just started.
This is one book I wouldn’t mind buying, especially if I was going to do a display that had to do with music, famous people or people that changed things. Not a bad read overall.
