Written by Caryn Yacowitz, Illustrated by David Slonim
This is a fun take off of the original story “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.” In this story the old lady swallows a dreidel and then goes on to swallow other Hanukkah symbols. It is a fun way to explain Hanukkah. As interesting as the Hanukkah take is the way the illustrator made changes to classic artwork to fit the story. There are links in the back of the book to look up the artwork so you could discuss art as well. For this reason the book could be used with almost any age of children. The students I read it to loved it.
