This is a clever idea – dragons see humans as their pets. Dragons do live thousands of years longer than we do and they are powerful and magical, so it makes perfect sense. Miss Drake’s pet, Fluffy (Amelia) has died of old age. Miss Drake is shocked to find that Amelia left a will telling her grand-niece, Winnie, about the dragon, and worse…she left the dragon to Winnie! Could Amelia have considered Miss Drake, one of the most powerful dragons, as a pet?! Preposterous! Winnie and Miss Drake get off to a rocky start, but they quickly come to understand each other. The adventure they embark on brings them closer together and helps both to heal from personal losses. This book is a fun beginning to what looks to be a new series. Young readers who love fantasy and magic will enjoy it immensely.
