By Rebecca Bond
This is a true story of an event that happened to the author’s grandfather, Antonio Willie Giroux. He lived in a hotel in the woods of Ontario, Canada, that was run by his mother. The hotel is filled with many hunters, fisherman, trappers, lumberjacks, miners, and other travelers. One night a fire starts in the woods and the only option is to leave the hotel and head for the lake. The illustrations are captivating and tell a story as well. My favorite thing about this book is that it reminds us how important it is to share our own stories. It would be a great book to use for mini writing lessons.
