Engineering Keeps Us Safe
Written by Lisa Owings
Great book about how to be safe in a storm, earthquake, fire, or flood. Each section includes real photos on ideas for harm prevention. I learned that dome houses survive tornados the best, and that Japanese engineers are exploring the idea of floating homes to keep people safe during earthquakes. Did you know that some buildings control the oxygen level so that it’s too low for a fire to start but high enough for you to breathe? That’s amazing!
