This is a wonderfully creative, enjoyable book about the creation of a story. Some characters are hanging out at the beginning of the book when they realize the reader has come and picked up this book. The characters aren’t ready for the reader yet, so they call for help from a bad guy, then an author, and so on. The author does come up with a story, but the characters aren’t that impressed. The process of the characters is what’s interesting.
The B.L. level is 1.9. Some second grade students will get the story, but this book may also be used at higher levels to talk about how stories come into being.
The author also wrote Press Here and Mix It Up! Each of the books are very creative. This one is particularly good at drawing like a kid, thinking outside the box, and bringing elements together. The words aren’t the important part of this book – the ideas are.

I love this author and this book.
My daughter (3) is obsessed with Mix It Up and Press Here. I am trying to decide if I dare to show this one to her, because I may have to read it every single night for the next month or two.
