I think everyone has a time when they don’t fit in but really wish they did. Nerdy Birdy feels exactly that. He wants to be part of the “cool” bird group and hunt with Eagle, have the fashion of Cardinal, or even insult worms like Robin. The thing is, they don’t accept him…and more than that, Nerdy Birdy likes doing other things like reading and playing video games. On a particularly lonely day, a new bird asks Nerdy Birdy why he keeps hanging around birds that don’t accept him. He joins the nerdy bird group and loves it…until another new bird comes along, Vulture. The other nerdy birds won’t accept her because she is different from them. So Nerdy Birdy and Vulture start their own group based solely on friendship. This is the perfect book to start a conversation about the meaning of friendship, acceptance, and confidence.
