Written by Tammi Sauer, Illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton
I LOVE this book! It is a clever twist on a nursery rhyme, but more than that, it is wonderful to see a book about a girl that could be anyone from anywhere. Newton’s magical illustrations and attention to detail (I love the little lamb purse) bring the story alive. Sure, Mary is over-the-top in her accessorizing, but that’s the fun. Mary helps those around her put a little pizzazz into their lives, until recess when she learns a valuable lesson. This little book is a big treat!
