Written by Leslie Staub, Illustrated by Jeff Mack
Dewey Dew is new to earth and attends school for the first time. This book has darling illustrations and addresses the anxiety that many school children face on the first day of school. It is told in the eyes of Dewey Dew, an extraterrestrial. Readers will enjoy interpreting the words used in Dewey’s language. School age children will relate easily to his fears and anxieties of being in a new classroom. This would be a great book to read at the start of a school year.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoy sharing books that students can relate to.
We need some more “first day of school” books. This one sounds perfect!
We have a collaborative list for first day of school books as well, we probably should update it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R4SEQxkBz93Si4KRhyC8Ak7oI77F2Ze2pqqNU0B60Rs/edit?usp=sharing
