This story is about a troll named Bera who harvests pumpkins for the Troll King. One day she sees some mermaids teasing a human baby. After rescuing the child from certain death Bera sets off to find a hero to return the child to the human village. She soon discovers that the heroes are too old for adventures and must find the courage to become the hero for the child.
I loved this story. Humor is often woven into the story to illustrate Bera and her friends’ lack of knowledge when it comes to adventures. The illustrations disappointed me because the color palette was comprised of different shades of brown and black. As a result the story had a darker feel to it. It is an endearing story about never giving up and doing the riht thing when faced with opposition.
