A Fire Truck Named Red

Written by Randall De Sève, Illustrated by Bob Staake

Little Rowan sees a shiny new fire truck in a store window. He dreams of getting this for his birthday. He is sadly disappointed when his grandfather gives him the fire truck that he played with as a boy. His grandfather promises to fix “Red” up. As Rowan joins his grandfather in the garage he listens to story after story of all the adventures his grandfather had as a young boy with “Red” the fire truck. Rowan is delighted when his grandfather reveals the refurbished “Red.” This story shows the trust and love that can grow between a child and a grandparent. This book would be a great one-on-one read aloud.
