A Taste for Monsters

Written by Matthew J. Kirby

This story takes place in London, 1888. Evelyn, a girl who was disfigured while working in the match factory, wants to be a nurse but has been rejected by many because of her appearance. She tries one more time and is hired to care for the elephant man because he has frightened all others away by his appearance. This working relationship works well for both of them because of the common experiences and rejection they have both experienced.

Evelyn and Joseph, the elephant man, begin to experience nightly visitations from ghosts of each woman that Jack the Ripper kills. Evelyn is compelled to face her own insecurities and fears as she tries to figure out what is happening and who is doing the horrific murders. I really enjoyed this book.
