Mr. Crum’s Potato Predicament

Written by Anne Renaud, Illustrated by Felicita Sala

Even though this book is a picture book, children of all ages and walks of life will enjoy the story. The images are beautifully illustrated and the text captivates and challenges the reader. It is a fictional tale that is inspired by the invention of the potato chip. The story is about a customer who hates every potato dish Mr. Crum creates. Instead of getting furious, Mr. Crum decides to play a prank and creates the most brittle potato dish. Instead of returning the plate, the customer declares it perfect and devours it in seconds. The author also includes a historical note after the conclusion of the story to explain that no one knows who created the first potato chip. I believe you will find this story enchanting and you will have a smile on your face once you close the book.
