A New Book of Old Tales
Written by Emily Jenkins, Illustrated by Rohan Daniel Eason
Jenkins tried to present old fairy tales in a new manner without appearing to be copying the Grimm Brothers. As a result, her stories lacked a personal element to engage the readers. She ensures that she presented the essential elements of the story without adding descriptive details. At the end of each story I felt like an important aspect of the story was missing. The only story I enjoyed was “The Three Great Noodles” because it is about looking past flaws in character and seeing the good in the person.
