A delicious story comparing life to a recipe. Steffy has always lived with her Aunt Gina, but one day her father returns home and everything changes. She must adjust to living without her aunt and determining her relationship with her father, a complete stranger to her. Upon finally accepting him as a part of her daily life, her father vanishes without a trace when he is unable to visit her mother at the hospital. This sudden change causes Steffy to question what it means to be a family. By the end of the story she learns that even though her family is scattered in many directions (geographically), each member has a special place in her heart. They are each ingredients to a unique recipe titled “Steffy’s family.”
The story captured my heart from the moment I picked it up. I have always lived in a steady home environment and this story helped me understand what it feels like to come from a “broken” home. I can see this story relating to individuals from all walks of life because we each experience a growing moment.
