A beautifully written middle grade novel about Sparrow Dalton, a young girl who lives in a small town in the swampy Everglades. Her mother has just died and she is left in the care of her Auntie Geraldine, whom she does not like. Sparrow feels utterly alone except for her best friend, who is actually a ghost. She feels that since she can see her ghostly friend, maybe she can see her mother again as well. Sparrow goes on a quest to find a way to get her mother back.
