Sami is new to Boston. He and his grandpa have come as refugees from Afganistan. After the loss of family and country, Sami’s Grandpa’s beloved instrument, the rebab, is stolen. Sami discovers it in a pawn shop and can buy it back for $700. He doesn’t have any money. By chance, he trades his keychain for something more valuable and discovers the possibility of earning the money he so desperately wants to bring music back into his Baba’s life. Along the way, he finds friends and makes a place for himself in this new country. What a well-written story of overcoming, positive outlook and forgiveness!
