Soof is a sequel to the book So B. It by Sarah Weeks. I had not read So Be. It but I went ahead and read Soof first. It can stand on its own, but I did go back and read So Be. It to get more background on the characters in Soof. After having done that, I would recommend reading So Be. It first and Soof second.
Soof is about a girl named Aurora who is an only child. Her best and only friend is Duck, her dog. From the time she was small her mother felt there was something a little odd with Aurora. She was convinced that Aurora had autism but the doctors all came to the same conclusion, she was quirky but not on the spectrum. Before Aurora was born her parents had a young girl, Heidi, stay with them. Her parents told her all the stories about Heidi that even she knew them by heart. Aurora compared herself to Heidi so much that she thought her parents loved Heidi more than her. Now Heidi was all grown up, married and going to have a baby and she was coming to visit. Soof was the special word Heidi’s mother had for love. Even though Aurora knew what the word meant she had to go find its true meaning. I really liked this book as well as the first one. One of the messages in the book is that it is okay to be different. Not everyone has to fit the mold.
