The cover of Emergency Monster Squad is deceiving. I thought this book would be about monsters. There are monsters in the book, but the main theme of the book is EMS and their work. EMS stands for emergency medical services. When you call 911 for help, EMS come in an ambulance. Sally and Gus are preparing for their shift, and there is a word that they don’t like to hear–“Quiet.” As soon as someone tells them to have a quiet shift, it gets busy. Now the monsters show up. The zombie feels ill. The skeleton loses some bones. Everyone is taken care of and left at the hospital. Young readers will enjoy the book for the monsters.
