Train to Impossible Places, #2
Written by P.G. Bell, Illustrated by Matt Sharack
When I first saw this book I assumed it was connected to the Great Brain Series. Not so! This story has quite a bit different “Great Brain” in it than the one John Fitzgerald created!
This is a sequel to The Train to Impossible Places, and after reading the second book, I think I would have enjoyed it better after reading the first book. It was okay without the first book’s introduction, but there were a lot of new things to figure out.
This fantasy book is unique in that Suzy, an eleven year old human, is needed to deliver mail in a land of trolls and magical trains. We encounter many kinds of new characters on this journey including the Great Brain.
I think this could be enticing for 3rd-5th grade students if they had the first book, which received a starred review from Kirkus. I will look into getting the first one for our library.
