Jabari Tries

Written and Illustrated by Gaia Cornwall

This was a great read aloud book that encourages teamwork and persistence. Jabari builds a flying machine, and it doesn’t work the way he wants. So, he keeps working on it. His sister Nika wants to help and ends up causing it to crash. Jabari’s dad encourages him to keep trying and maybe even invite his sister to help.

This is a good book to follow up Jabari Jumps. When we get frustrated or scared these books can help us and the kids that read them to work through emotions. Jabari’s dad is great at helping him work through tough problems. Great book for an elementary school library!
