Linked is a middle grade novel about a tiny town. Chokecherry Colorado: a peaceful, quiet town with a middle school. Until one day the middle school is vandalized, and a swastika is painted on the wall above the staircase leading to the second story.
Michael is the first person to see it. Link is one of the most popular guys in school, and Dana is the only Jewish girl in the whole town. Michael is the first suspect because he was the first one to discover the swastika. Because Link is popular everyone wants him to figure out who did it. Dana, meanwhile, is feeling like an outcast because she is Jewish.
More swatiskas show up in and around the middle school. The community has to come together to try and learn tolerance. Some are taking it serious, but others are not. The mystery of who did it keeps you riveted to the page.
Gordon Korman knows how to reach middle schoolers like nobody can. This book is for everyone, it digs into the need for tolerance, different perspectives, remembrance, change, etc.
