Eyes that Speak to the Stars

Written by Joanna Ho, Illustrated by Dung Ho

This beautifully illustrated book deserves a space on the shelf next to its companion book, Eyes that Kiss in the Corners. It is the story of a young boy hurt by a friend’s drawing that depicts his eyes with two lines stretched across his face. Baba (father) positively explains, “Your eyes rise to the skies and speak to the stars…just like mine.” The story unfolds as the boy proudly realizes that he is also like his Agong (grandpa) and Di-di (his younger brother). This empowering book teaches children to be proud of their heritage and who they can become.
