Written by Kate DiCamillo, Illustrated by Sophie Blackall
Kate DiCamillo has such a magical way of telling a story and her newest, The Beatryce Prophecy, is no exception. Beatryce awakes to find herself being nursed back to health by a kind monk and, of all things, a goat, who isn’t friendly to anyone but Beatryce. The monk discovers that Beatryce is the girl a prophecy has foretold of, but this brings danger because the king of the land is looking for just such a girl in order to destroy her. As Beatryce sets out on a journey to find the castle and confront the king, she meets wonderful characters that become true friends who help her along her dangerous journey.
A beautifully told story of friendship, courage, and family, as well as the importance and joy of storytelling.
