Kalamata and her friends are trying to get their dance ready, but they cannot agree on what to do. So, they decide to take a break and get a snack. Kalamata and her friend Kyo magically travel to Malaysia for their snack. Here they get to try different foods that are zingy, sweet, fiery, and savory. All of these different flavors come together to make a delicious pineapple curry. This helps them realize what they need to do to fix the dance number with their friends. Just like with the recipe, every ingredient is special, but they are all better when they are working together. The friends are able to work together to create a dance that steals the show.
I like how this book encourages children to try new foods and flavors, teaches about foods from other countries, and has a little lesson.
