I chose this book because I have a few teachers who have asked me recently for books that teach kids how to get along with each other, especially at recess. After being isolated with Covid, some kids are needing a reminder of how to play with each other again. This book is pretty straightforward, but it does a great job of showing kids what kind of rules work on the playground, such as: everyone gets a turn; we listen to each other; we say we’re sorry when we’re wrong; we do kind things for others; we return what we borrow; we learn from our mistakes; we try to be fair, we share what we don’t need; and we include everyone, especially if someone feels lonely. Of course, these rules work just about anywhere, especially the classroom! Cute little animals are learning these lessons in on bright, colorful pages. And the title is a fun play on words for older kids. This definately skews young and I’d recommend it for younger grades and SPED. It would be perfect at the beginning of the year, but applicable anytime!
