Year of the Cat

Written by Richard Ho, Illustrated by Jocelyn Li Langrand

Year of the Cat is a beautifully illustrated retelling of a Chinese legend. Twelve animals who finish a Great Race to the Jade Palace were able to claim a year of the calendar. But Cat was not one of them. Rat feels guilty for pushing Cat into the river and he tries to apologize. Rat and eleven other animals go on an adventure to find Cat. Overall, a quick read. Fun for kids who are interested in the Chinese calendar.
