This beautifully illustrated book gave me the same vibes as when I read Sweep, Beekle, and watched Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. Yes, I became a little emotional at the end. Two friends, one a young girl and one a fluffy green monster, spend countless hours together, engaging in fun and just having each other’s backs. One morning the girl is gone. Working through this loss, the monster makes new friends. Still, he wonders what ever happened to that first great friend. The story is seen from the perspective of the imaginary friend. Even though it pulls at heartstrings, it does have a happy conclusion. This would be a great recommendation for someone that is dealing with a lost friendship.
