This was a cute and frightening read about a lonely, friendless boy who moves with his parents into a lighthouse to fix it up. There is a perfect amount of spooky, haunted elements in the book for those (like me) who enjoy a scary story now and then. However, it’s not too horrifying for elementary students. The characters were very enjoyable and believable and, most importantly, the themes of friendship, family, and honoring the truth behind historical tragedies made it that much more wonderful and gave the story depth and meaning. I really enjoyed this book, it was well-written and would be a great recommendation for kids who move around a lot and therefore have trouble making friends because of it.
