Grace is an orphan, she’s lived in an orphanage her entire life. She discovers that she has magical powers – she can talk to a crow, which she names Windweaver. She decides to run away and find a witch she can be an apprentice to, and discovers a witch in the woods. After a rocky beginning, they make a pact that Grace has to solve a book of potions in a year or she will have to give up her witch magic. The story unfolds into one of friendship, where Grace finally finds a place to call home. Beautifully written, with a heartwarming ending.
