Shine Bright is a beautiful book about not letting others’ words bringing you down. Imani loves to sing and dance and show the world who she really is, but when she overhears other kids comment about her “looking different” it affects her. She goes to her sister, who tells her that she is perfect they way she is and that others are just afraid of what is different and that she needs to not let their words hurt her.
This book would be a great read aloud for all grades. The illustrations are amazing and the story is wonderful.Reviewed by Nanette Warr, Librarian, Monroe Elementary
