The Sister Split

Written by Auriane Desombre

If I had to describe this book in one sentence, I would say “Parent Trap but in reverse.” Autumn is shocked–and not happy–when her mom announces that she and her boyfriend, Harrison, are getting married. Linnea, Harrison’s daughter, is open to being a sister, but is sad to know her mom and dad will not be getting back together. Together, Autumn and Linnea work to sabotage the wedding, but end up finding reasons why change may not be too bad.

Very cute! I like how the girls were able to learn from each other and bond. Plus, I enjoyed that there were conversations between adult and kid at the end as they shared their thoughts and feelings. Plus, there is LGBTQ representation as one of the girls begins to discover her own sexuality. No physical descriptions beyond a kiss between two older girls and hand holding between two younger girls.
