A gnome is an unexpected character in a graphic novel, and his puffy white hair and beard make for entertaining illustrations. The five short vignettes make this an approachable graphic novel for beginning readers. The humorous stories don’t feel predictable, and the detailed drawings bring the forest setting to life. It’s always a bonus to find extra material on the end papers, and this book features a variety of braiding options for the gnome’s beard.
