This story was written for all those readers who think they are less that ordinary, but really are extraordinary.
Ware knows that everyone thinks he’s not normal. Even his parents. He spends a summer trying to become normal and fails in the best way possible. By the end it is easy to see that normal would be a downgrade. Ware learns that being unlike everyone else is a benefit.I love that Ware sees the world through the lens of the knight’s code. I love seeing him grow into himself and embrace the things that are uniquely him. I love that he finds “his people” that encourage and help him along as he grows.
I especially love his mom’s message of “if you see a problem, look on the edges and find something you can do.” If we all do the little we can, big changes can happen!Reviewed by Tiffany Brito, Librarian, Hunter Elementary
