Del lives with Grammy and her dad, since her mother died. Her father is in the Air Force, so he isn’t home much, and Del and Grammy move all over following Dad. On their way to their new house Grammy starts to feel unwell, and when they reach their new house Grammy collapses on the floor in pain. Dell calls 911 and gets her to the hospital. She can’t lose Grammy! She finds out that she needs surgery to remove her appendix. Her Dad calls her and tells her that she is going to be staying at her great grandma’s house while her Grammy recovers. Her Grammy never told her about Great Grandma Rose. She is scared and lonely going to her grandmother’s island. Then she discovers that a very large, scary crocodile named Lumpy is guiding their boat to the island. She finds out that Grandma Rose runs a conjuring academy. Dell learns that her family comes from a long line of conjurers and that her Grammy is magical. She is soooo confused. She’s frightened and doesn’t know if she believes in the magic that her family has been using for years. In the end, she finds a new friend by the name of Eve and her Great Grandpa Bobby, who is a ghost. She comes to the realize that it doesn’t matter who everyone is in a family. Family is forever.
