Written by Rand Burkert, Illustrated by Chris Raschka
This picture book reads like a folk tale. It’s about a man and a donkey whose job it is to repair the sky. They fill in the holes in the universe and make stars. When the donkey, Lorenzo, gets his foot caught in a nebula, it takes the help of some constellation figures to pull him out. The idea for this book is imaginative. I like that it teaches a bit about constellations in a narrative text. Some of the text seems a little wordy, and I do wish the illustrations were more detailed to showcase the starry sky. I think it would appeal to students in Grades 1-4.
