Written by Ali Standish
The game is definitely afoot in this new take on Sherlock Holmes. Standish writes beautifully and was so clever to make Arthur Conan Doyle the main character. The setting is familiar: pre-teen goes to an incredible school, meets friends, makes enemies, has adventures. But despite the familiarity, the story feels fresh and interesting. Arthur is poor and is given an unexpected chance to go to a prestigious school and jumps at the opportunity. On the first day he unintentionally makes several enemies who prove to be quite dangerous as the plot unfolds. His new friends though stick by his side, including a certain James Moriarty. The excitement and suspense will keep readers hooked to the very end.
